As a College Park Arts Scholar, Saxon explored his diverse interests through a culminating Capstone project. He taught a workshop for freshmen and sophomores within the Arts program to satisfy his Capstone requirement while also gaining valuable teaching experience. As part of his university involvement, he participates in Lakeland STARs continues working one-on-one in weekly tutoring sessions with elementary-aged students. He is also a member of the Scholars Peer Mentor program where he assists incoming freshman in becoming acclimated to college life, serving as a resource to guide them through their first months in college. In accordance with his passion for education, Saxon serves as the College of Education’s representative within the University of Maryland’s Senate. His academic goals include becoming a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education; expanding his personal catalogue of literary movements, authors, and genres; and growing in his capacity as an educator.
